Multi Hand Blackjack

Multi hand blackjack is quite similar to single hand blackjack. However, in this variation the players can bet on different hands, up to five and play all of them independently at the same time. The game can be found on plenty of online casinos today.

The objective of the game is quite the same, to reach a total of one which is higher than that of the dealer without exceeding 21.

Rules of multi hand blackjack

  • Eight decks of regular 52 cards are used
  • The deck is shuffled after every hand
  • The dealer will have to stand on all the 17s
  • After splitting the player can double down.
  • Re-splitting of the cards is not allowed
  • Surrendering is not allowed
  • When the aces are split, only one card is dealt
  • Every hand will have to be completed before advancing to the next
  • Up to five hands can be played for every deal.

How to play multi hand blackjack

Multi hand blackjack, as well as some other blackjack variations, is quite similar to single blackjack:

  • The game is played with eight decks and after each game the cards which are used are shuffled back to the deck.
  • The value of the cards would remain the same as traditional blackjack, the aces are either 1 or 11, the face cards are counted as ten while all the other cards have their numerical value.
  • The value of the hand would be the sum total of the value of the cards.

The player can place individual bets on every hand. Also, there would be a minimum bet amount which would have to be paid for every hand: the game begins by placing a bet for every hand on the table. This could be a maximum of five hands. Once that is done, the player would receive two faced up cards. The dealer would just receive one card facing up while the other one would be face down. Once the cards have been dealt to the player, the player can then decide to either hit, stand, double down or take insurance.

All of these decisions can be taken individually for every hand. When the player decides to hit, he/she would be dealt an extra card. The motive is to get as close to 21 as possible without exceeding 21 and also to get a total for the hand which would be higher than that of the dealer.

If the total of the cards is something which the player believes is high enough, then he/she can decide to stand which would mean that no other cards would be dealt to the player then. The player can also decide to split the pairs.

For example, when the player is being dealt 8-8, he/she can decide to split them and form two separate hands from that. An additional card would be dealt then and both of these hands would be considered as separate. All of the hands which are being played simultaneously can be split by the player.

Except for the fact that multiple hands are being played, multi hand blackjack is not very different than standard blackjack.
